1. Trogir City Beach (Gradska Plaža Trogir)

Where is Trogir City Beach?

The closest beach to Trogir Old Town is Trogir City Beach. It's under 1km from the Old Town which is about a 12-minute walk.

Why Should You Visit Trogir City Beach?

Short on time? The best thing about Trogir City Beach is its proximity to Trogir Old Town. If you have young kids or you want a quick swim, it's easy to pop down here for a bit of beach time.

The water here is calm and shallow so it's safe for kids to swim and splash around, and there's also a couple of bars for refreshments and bathroom facilities. You can rent sun loungers and parasols from 20 euros per day. There's also a fun swing in the sea for that ultimate holiday snap!

Trogir City Beach boasts a photogenic swing.

Good to Know:

  • The bars here at Trogir City Beach only take cash.

  • There is paid parking right next to the beach if you arrive by car.

  • Bear in mind that this gravel beach is fairly small and can get crowded in July and August.

  • Due to the nearby Pantan Nature Reserve there can be a lot of grasses and seaweed in the water.

  • Trogir City Beach is near the airport so planes often pass overhead which can be noisy and disturbing. (Or it can be a big plus if your kids like planes!)

2. Pantan Beach

Where is Pantan Beach?

Pantan Beach is about 1.8km or a 20-minute walk from Trogir Old Town. It's right next to the Pantan Nature Reserve, a peaceful wetland area which is also worth exploring while you're there.

Why Should You Visit Pantan Beach?

Pantan is one of the closest beaches to Trogir, so it's very popular with local families. The waters here are calm, there's plenty of shade from pines planted next to the shore, and part of the 500 metre beach is sandy so it's good for little kids.

There aren't so many facilities here except for a bakery a few minutes away on the main road and the historic Pantan Mill in the Pantan Nature Reserve in which is now a decent restaurant and great option for lunch. There's also a kitesurf school next to Pantan Beach for those looking for a bit more adrenaline.

Good to Know:

  • In high season try to get there in the morning to enjoy the quiet before the crowds arrive in the afternoon.

  • As with Trogir City Beach, Pantan is very close to Split Airport so there can be a lot of noisy planes passing overhead. This could be a pro or a con depending on your kids...

Saldun Beach on Ciovo island offers crystal clear waters and plentiful swim spots.

3. Saldun Beach, Ciovo

Where is Saldun Beach?

Saldun Beach is a 15-minute walk or 5-minute drive from Trogir Old Town on the island of Ciovo. You can also take the number 44 bus from Trogir Bus Station.

Why Should You Visit Saldun Beach?

Saldun Beach is more a rocky stretch of coastline with swimming ladders and concrete areas where locals hang out in summer. The big draw here is the crystal clear waters and the undeveloped and unspoilt vibe which make Saldun one of the best beaches near Trogir. If you're short on time and want to swim in a beautiful spot, this is a great option.

Good to Know:

  • Saldun isn't a sandy beach, so it's not the best if you're planning on doing a lot of sunbathing or you have little kids.

  • The beach is accessed by steep stone steps which can be tricky for those with reduced mobility.

  • The rocks can be sharp so take care when getting in and out of the water. It's a good idea to take water shoes or flip flops if you have them.

  • There's a shower and changing cubicle at the beach.

  • There's also a small free parking area close to the beach.

  • There aren't many other facilities at Saldun Beach itself, but a few minute's drive further along the coast is the village of Okrug Gornji which has plenty of waterside bars, cafes, and restaurants.

4. Public Beach by the Brown Beach House Hotel, Ciovo

Where is the beach?

This public beach in front of the Brown Beach House Hotel is just a 15-minute walk from Trogir Old Town. You just cross over the bridge from Trogir to the island of Ciovo and walk a few minutes along the waterfront to reach the hotel.

Why Should You Visit?

This public beach is another great option for a quick swim or family-friendly beach day very close to Trogir Old Town. This fine gravel beach is calm and shallow so it's good for smaller kids. There's usually a lifeguard on duty during the summer months. And there's even an inflatable waterpark to keep the older ones entertained.

The Brown Beach House also has a beach club which is open to non-guests where you can order drinks and rent sun loungers for the day. Inside the 4-star hotel there's the Cartina restaurant set on a elegant terrace overlooking the sea. We particularly recommend their Black Risotto (Crni rižot) made with fresh local seafood and squid ink.

Good to Know:

  • The beach is popular with hotel guests so it's worth going early if you want to rent sun loungers.

  • The Brown Beach House is also a great place to stay because you're close to Trogir without being in the busy Old Town. We like the fact it has it's own beach right on the doorstep as well as a gorgeous pool and spa centre for hotel guests. And it's set in an old tobacco warehouse that has been lovingly converted into a boutique hotel, making it a great place to get a sense of the history of this area.

Best Beaches on Ciovo Island

The beautiful island of Ciovo is connected to Trogir via two bridges. If you're saying in Trogir you're in luck because Ciovo beaches literally offer it all from buzzing resort-style beaches to wild, hidden idylls tucked away on the southern side of the island.

5. Labadusa Beach, Ciovo

Where is Labadusa Beach?

Labadusa Bay is located on the southern side of Ciovo island not far from Okrug Gornji. It's only a 15-minute drive from Trogir Old Town or you can take the number 44 bus and walk about 20 minutes down to the beach.

Aerial view of Labadusa Bay, home to one of the best beaches in Trogir.

Labadusa Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches near Trogir.

Why Should You Visit Labadusa Beach?

Just a short drive from Trogir is this little slice of island paradise with crystal clear azure waters and fragrant pine trees. The bay is home to the swanky Laganini Beach Club which offers fine dining and comfortable lounge areas and beds. Alternatively you can just do as the locals do and spend the day hanging out on the long gravel beach.

There are a couple of good lunch options here if you don't want to bring your own picnic. Laganini Beach Club does a mean seared tuna steak as well as mouthwatering seafood options, while the more rustic Tavern Labadusa at the campsite by the beach offers simple traditional-style grilled meat and fish options. There's also another Laganini beach club in the Pakleni islands near Hvar Island, so watch out for that when making reservations!

Good to Know:

  • Like many popular beaches near to Trogir, Labadusa can get busy in July and August. Try to arrive before during the busiest part of the day which is usually 11am to 3pm.

  • There is a designated parking lot just up from the beach, but again it gets very busy during summer so aim to get there early.

  • Labadusa is a good option for families since there's plenty of shade and bathroom and changing facilities at the beach club. Just watch out for sharp rocks and sea urchins on the beach and the water. We recommend bringing water shoes!

  • If you fancy staying over and having the beach all to yourself, a great budget option is Camp Labadusa where you can wake up right next to the sea. Prices start at 18 euros per person for camping. If you prefer something a bit more luxurious, check out Villa Salum which has a gorgeous seaview garden and hot tub or the spectacular Villa Rudini.

  • A more relaxed way to visit Labadusa Bay is via a boat tour of the islands. Some operators stop at Labadusa for their smaller boat trips, as well as stopping off at gorgeous beaches and bays along the way that are only really accessible by boat. Our favourite option is this half-day speedboat trip which takes you to the stunning Blue Lagoon on Drvenik Veli island as well as Labadusa Bay.

6. Tatinja Beach

Where is Tatinja Beach?

Pretty little Tatinja Beach is the next bay over from Labadusa on the island of Ciovo. It's about a 12-minute drive from Trogir Old Town on a good day or around 20 minutes on the number 44 bus. If you take the bus you'll need to walk the last 10 minute or so down to the beach along a narrow lane.

People swimming and enjoying the summer at Tatinje Beach on Ciovo island.

Tatinja Beach is a favourite amongst Trogir locals.

Why Should You Visit Tatinja Beach?

This cute wild beach is tucked away in a stunning bay on the south side of Ciovo island. Tatinja isn't as well known as the more popular beaches on Ciovo like Labadusa and Copacabana, but it's a favourite with locals. We've often had the bay to ourselves in May and October when visitor numbers drop off dramatically on the islands.

There's not much to do here except swim and snorkel in the stupendously clear waters or relax and work on you tan. And that's exactly what makes Tatinja so special. Here you won't be disturbed by music blaring from lively beach bars, noisy jetskis, or passing traffic. And if you do get thirsty, it's just a 10-15 minute stroll along the coast to Kaktus Beach Bar on the outskirts of Okrug Gornji village. They also do basic snacks like fries, toasted sandwiches, and pancakes.

Families swimming at Tatinja Beach, one of the best beaches near Trogir.

Tatinja Beach is paradise for nature lovers and those looking to unplug and relax.

Good to Know:

  • There are no facilities here at Tatinja Beach except a small parking area. Make sure you bring all the food and drinks you'll need for your trip with you!

  • Access to the beach is via a steep path.

  • The rocky coastline and lack of shade and facilities on the beach make it less suitable for families with small kids.

  • In the height of summer Tatinja can get crowded because it's such a small beach. Arrive early to enjoy it at its best.

Aerial view of Copacabana Beach which is one of the best beaches near Trogir for its family-friendly vibe and ample amenities.

Copacabana Beach on Ciovo island is a great lively option for families.

7. Copacabana Beach (Okrug Gornji Beach)

Where is Copacabana Beach?

Copacabana Beach is located in the village of Okrug Gornji on the western side of the island of Ciovo. It's very close to Trogir Old Town which makes it a great option if you want to minimize travel time. By car it's a 6-minute drive or a 10-minute bus ride on the number 44. You could also walk it in about 30 minutes, but traffic can be busy on these roads especially during the summer. Another (fun) option is to take a taxi boat from Trogir for about 5 euros per person.

Why Should You Visit Copacabana Beach?

Copacabana or Okrug Gornji Beach is one of the most popular beaches near Trogir. This vibrant 2-km pebble beach is spacious enough to have room for everyone and there are plenty of amenities to keep the whole family occupied.

In the summer months there's a couple of big inflatable waterparks, water sports options like jet skis, kayaks, paddleboards, and a banana boat, lounger and umbrella hire for around 10 euros per day, and tons of bars and restaurants. And the fun doesn't stop after dark. Sunsets can be particularly nice from this beach, so it's worth sticking around or driving over for a sundowner drink. We especially like Vagabundo Beach Bar for drinks and Konoba Pizzeria Aldo a short walk away from the beach for lunch.

In July and August there are regular live music performances in Okrug Gornji and Fishermen's Nights where fresh fish is grilled and sold on the streets often to raise money for local charities. Check out the Okrug tourist board website for more details.

Good to Know

  • Copacabana is great for kids of all ages thanks to the calm waters, smooth gravel sand, and plentiful entertainment options.

  • Copacabana beach is more carefully maintained than the wilder beaches on Ciovo like Tatinja, with facilities like showers, public toilets. changing cubicles and lifeguards on duty during the summer.

  • Parking is available next to the beach, although it's recommended to get there before 11am during July and August. Plan on paying 3-4 euros per hour in high season.

  • Many bars and restaurants here only accept cash.

  • Okrug Gornji can also be a good place to stay if you're looking for a quieter alternative to Trogir or Split. The better choices are further away from the bustling beach area. We really love the light and airy apartments at Villa Eight which is run by the local Kuzmanić family and has nice sea views and an outdoor barbecue in the garden that guests can use.

Shady pine forest and crystal clear waters meet at Stari Porat beach on Ciovo island.

Stari Porat Beach is a small but beautiful stretch of shore on the western side of Ciovo island.

8. Stari Porat Beach

Where is Stari Porat Beach?

Stari Porat Beach is located just outside the village of Okrug Donji on the western tip of the island of Ciovo. It's a 15-20 minute drive from Trogir Old Town to Stari Porat Beach or you can take a taxi boat direct to Stari Porat from Trogir.

Why Should You Visit Stari Porat Beach?

Since it's a little off the beaten track and far away from any major settlement, the water at Stari Porat is as clear as it gets. And it's a small beach so it doesn't tend to attract the large crowds that flock to more famous beaches on Ciovo island like Labadusa or Copacabana.

The calm waters, clean pebble beach and shallow areas close to the shore here are great for families with younger kids. There's also some activities to keep older kids entertained, including as SUP and kayak rental from the nearby Okruk Adventure Club. In high season there's usually the option to rent sunloungers and umbrellas for 7 euros per day.

Sunset at Stari Porat Beach on the island of Ciovo.

Good to Know

  • There's a small beach bar that's usually open during high summer and weekends with toilets and refreshments.

  • For restaurants and shops you'll need to go to nearby Okrug Donji which is just a 10-15 minute walk away. Here you'll find a couple of decent local restaurants like Didina Dika.

  • Keep an eye out for sea urchins which can be very painful if stepped on or brushed against. They tend to lurk in the rocks, so if you stick to pebbled and sandy areas you should be fine.

People sunbathing on Mastrinka beach, one of the best beaches close to Trogir.

Mastrinka Beach offers lots of space to spread out your beach towels and relax.

9. Mastrinka Beach

Where is Mastrinka Beach?

Mastrinka Beach is on the northern side of Ciovo island around a 6-minute drive from Trogir Old Town. You can also take the number 12 bus from Trogir Bus Station which takes about 15 minutes.

Why Should You Visit Mastrinka Beach?

Mastrinka is a small and peaceful pebble beach that's great for young kids and adults who want a bit of downtime. It's mostly visited by locals and those staying in the apartments in and around the village of Mastrinka. Since it's so close to Trogir Old Town it's a great option for a quick beach trip before or after exploring other parts of Ciovo.

What's nice about Mastrinka is that the beach stretches all the way along the shore front so there's plenty of space even in high season. The waters here are calm and shallow and the beach is usually very clean even in summer. There's a small shop on the beach selling ice creams and cold drinks.

Good to Know

  • There aren't many facilities by the beach itself, but further along the coast in the little town of Arbanija there are several simple local restaurants and beach bars. We like Konoba Kod Ive and Beach Bar Mul.

  • The is free parking by the beach but it can get busy in summer so arrive early.

  • Showers and changing cubicles are available on the beach.

10. Arbanija Beach

Where is Arbanija Beach?

Arbanija is on the northern side of Ciovo island around a 10-minute drive from Trogir Old Town. You can also take the number 42 bus from Trogir which takes around 15 minutes.

Why Should You Visit Arbanija Beach?

The small beachfront town of Arbanija offers a long stretch of pebble beach which rarely gets too crowded even during the busy summers. It's great for kids with an inflatable aqua park and playground right by the beach.

A beach bar at Arbanija Beach on Ciovo island.

If you're thirsty, stop by Arbanija Beach Bar (above) where you can also rent scooters and bikes to explore more of Ciovo island. For lunch or dinner by the beach there are some decent local restaurants nearby including the family-owned Konoba Dida Moj. Don't miss their grilled calamari and the mixed meat platter!

Good to Know

  • There is free parking available next to the beach, but in summer spaces fill up fast.

  • Arbanija can also be a good base to stay during your trip since it's close to Trogir, yet still offers lots of peace and tranquility. Top options for larger groups include the 4-bedroom Holiday Villa Nostra which has a beautiful private pool. The 2-bedroom Apartments Alba (the white building in the photo below) is a classy modern option with perfect sea views, while Luxury Apartments Nicole offers 1 and 2 bedroom apartments which are ideal for small families.

11. Slatine Beach

Where is Slatine Beach?

Slatine is the next beach town over from Arbanija on the northern coast of Ciovo island. It's about a 15-minute drive from Trogir Old Town or you can take the number 42 bus which takes around 30 minutes. You can also take the Bura line ferry to Slatine from either Trogir or Split. It takes around 30 minutes and it can be a good option to avoid traffic during the summer!

The empty beach in summer at Slatine on Ciovo Island near Trogir.

Why Should You Visit Slatine Beach?

Slatine is an attractive pebble beach that makes a good day trip destination since the water here is crystal clear and there's plenty of good restaurants nearby. We especially like escaping from Split on the weekend and grabbing a drink at HOOK Cocktail Bar right on the beach.

Next to this bar there's usually an inflatable aquapark in the summer months to keep the kids busy. Good restaurant options include Restoran Neverin by Slatine's small harbour which serves up generous portions of traditional Croatian dishes, pizzas and pasta.

If you fancy something a bit more active, there's the option to go on a quadbike adventure with Pine Tree Quads and see parts of the southern side of Ciovo island most tourists never get to. They also hire out scooters starting from 30 euros per half day.

Views from one of the bedrooms at the Inside/Outside villa in Slatine on Ciovo island.

Wake up to these views of Slatine Beach at the Inside/Outside villa.

Good to Know

  • Sea urchins aren't really a problem here, but don't forget your water shoes or flip flops for walking on the pebbles!

  • For something really special, stay at the Inside/Outside villa which offers 4 plush bedrooms tucked away in the pine forests just metres from Slatine Beach.

The view of Marjan and the mountains behind Split from Kava Beach on Ciovo Island.

Kava Beach is a wild stretch of shore that offers great views of the mountains.

12. Kava Beach

Where is Kava Beach?

Kava Beach is on the far eastern tip of the island and is accessed via a dirt road from the town of Slatine. It's a 30-minute drive from Trogir Old Town. Alternatively you could take the number 42 bus or Bura line ferry from Trogir to Slatine and then enjoy a 1-hour walk along the coast to Kava Beach.

Why Should You Visit Kava Beach?

Confusingly there are two beaches named Kava Beach on Ciovo island. One is easy to get to and the other is not. If you're up for a little adventure, this remote and tranquil wild beach at the far tip of the island has to be on your radar.

For us what makes Kava one of the best beaches near Trogir is the incredible peace and quiet and the stunning views of Split and the mountains along the coast. Not many people make it out here even during the busiest months of summer, so it's a great escape from the crowds. It's the perfect spot to go off grid for a few hours and experience the real Croatia that you won't find in any guidebook.

Good to Know

  • Bring everything you'll need for the day as there's nothing near the beach. The nearest shops are in Slatine.

  • The shore is pretty rocky here so don't forget to bring water shoes or flip flops.

  • Remember to take any rubbish home with you at the end of the day so others can enjoy the beach just as much as you did!

The rocky, wild beach of Bili Tić is tucked away on the north-eastern tip of Ciovo Island near Trogir.

Bili Tić Beach is tucked away on the north-eastern tip of Ciovo Island.

13. Bili Tić Beach

Where is Bili Tić Beach?

A little further east from Kava Beach is another locals-only spot called Bili Tić Beach. Again, it's only accessible along a dirt track from the nearby town of Slatine and it's around a 35-minute drive from Trogir Old Town.

Why Should You Visit Bili Tić Beach?

Bili Tić Beach is a secret gem of a beach that's almost always quiet even during high summer. You have to be pretty determined to get here, so the beach is always quiet and peaceful. At most you might see a handful of locals or intrepid visitors who are hiking around the island.

Since Bili Tić beach is so remote, the agenda here is simple. Enjoy a hike along the coast, bring a picnic, and spend a few hours swimming and soaking in the sun on the rocks on and around the beach.

Good to Know

  • Bili Tić beach is a small rocky and pebbly beach, so don't forget to bring a towel or something soft to lounge on.

  • Wild and rocky beaches in Croatia like Bili Tić beach tend to have lots of sea urchins since the water is so clean. Make sure you have water shoes or at least flip flops and take care when entering the water.

  • The closest shops and bars to Bili Tić beach are in the town of Slatine, so you'll need to bring everything you need with you. In the summer don't forget to bring plenty of water as there's no water sources nearby.

Mala Draga is a charming wild beach on the unspoilt southern side of Ciovo island.

Mala Draga is a charming wild beach on the unspoilt southern side of Ciovo island.

14. Mala Draga Beach

Where is Mala Draga Beach?

Mala Draga Beach is on the southern side of Ciovo island around a 20-minute drive from Trogir Old Town.

Why Should You Visit Mala Draga Beach?

Pocket-sized Mala Draga Beach is actually a nudist beach thanks to its secluded location. Here you'll find some of the clearest waters on the island and unspoilt nature all around.

Since it's a wild beach there aren't any facilities here. But Mala Draga is a short walk away from Okrug Gornji village where you'll find plenty of bars and restaurants. There's also a little beach bar in the next bay over called Vela Draga which serves drinks and basic snacks.

The crystal clear waters at Mala Draga make it one of the best beaches near Trogir.

Good to Know

  • There are no facilities on or near the beach, so bring everything you'll need with you.

  • Mala Draga isn't suitable for families since it is designated as a nudist beach.

  • Bring water shoes to protect your feet from sea urchins and sharp rocks.

  • The road to the beach is rough and difficult to navigate. We recommend parking in Okrug Gornji and walking 10-15 minutes to reach the beach.

Best Beaches on Drvenik Veli

Drvenik Veli is a charming cloud-shaped island close to Trogir. With a population of just 150 people, this 12 km2 island has many secret swimming spots known only to locals as well as the famous Blue Lagoon beach.

Best Beaches on Drvenik Veli Island Map

Map of the best beaches on Drvenik Veli near Trogir.

15. The Blue Lagoon (Plaza Krknjasi)

Where is the Blue Lagoon?

The Blue Lagoon is easily the most famous beach near Trogir. It's located on the rugged eastern side of Drvenik Veli island. There is a ferry that runs several times a day from Trogir to the main town on the island and takes just under an hour. From here it's a 5-10 minute drive or an easy and flat 40 minute walk to the Blue Lagoon. It's also a great option to include on a charter yacht itinerary if you're planning to rent a boat.

An easier (and more fun!) option is to take a half-day speedboat tour from Trogir. We particularly like this one because it includes a stop at the pretty little town of Maslinica on the island of Solta. The last time we did this trip we even saw some dolphins so keep your eyes peeled!

Why Should You Visit the Blue Lagoon?

The Blue Lagoon got its name from the incredible colours of the water here which really has to be seen to be believed! This is caused by the sandy sea floor which gives the bay a tropical feel. The Blue Lagoon is a great place to go snorkelling or explore the two other little islands, Large and Small Krknjas (Mali and Veli Krknjas), which protect the entrance to the bay.

There's a simple beach bar here for refreshments and the wonderful Konoba Krknjaši restaurant which is run by a local family. They serve up fresh fish and vegetables that they catch and grow themselves on a shady terrace overlooking the sea. If you come by boat, don't miss the floating bar in the Blue Lagoon which serves up fresh mojitos and pina coladas to yachts!

Aerial view of the Blue Lagoon bay on Drvenik Veli island.

Good to Know

  • The shore here is rocky with plenty of sea urchins so bring water shoes to protect your feet.

  • The Blue Lagoon is a popular tourist attraction. Sadly that means the bay is packed out with boats and visitors during July and August. If you can, we highly recommend visiting in May, the end of September, or October when the crowds die down.

  • If you do visit in the summer, try to come early in the morning before the day trippers arrive, or in the late afternoon after they leave.

  • There are very few facilities here apart from a simple beach bar and the Konoba Krknjaši restaurant, so bring everything you need with you for the day.

Three speedboats anchored off Solinska Beach, one of the best beaches near Trogir.

Solinksa Beach is also known for its crystal clear waters.

16. Solinska Beach

Where is Solinksa Beach?

Solinksa Beach is a couple of bays over from the Blue Lagoon on the southern side of Drvenik Veli island. The easiest way to get there is on this three-island speedboat trip from Trogir that includes stops at both the Blue Lagoon and Solinska Bay as well as the pretty little town of Maslinica on Solta island.

It's also a great place to stop off during a yacht charter or boat rental thanks to the free anchorage. Or you could take the ferry from Trogir to Drvenik Veli and drive for 5 minutes on pretty rough road or walk around 30 minutes to the beach.

Why Should You Visit Solinksa Beach?

If the Blue Lagoon sounds too crowded for you, our locals' alternative is Solinksa Bay. Here you'll find some of the most gorgeous turquoise waters anywhere in Croatia. It's a great place to pull up in your charter yacht or day rental and just spend the day splashing around in paradise. There's a jetty here so it's easy to come ashore if you arrive by boat.

Good to Know

  • Solinska Beach is pretty rocky, so make sure to take water shoes to protect your feet. Watch out for sea urchins as well - they thrive in the clean waters here!

  • Bear in mind that this is more of a wild and unspoilt rocky bay with gorgeous waters for swimming rather than a manicured beach with lots of facilities. There are no shops, bars, or restaurants nearby.

Best Trogir Riviera Beaches

On the mainland to the west of Trogir is the Trogir Riviera where you'll find a series of nice beaches dotted along the coast.

17. Medena Beach

Where is Medena Beach?

Medena Beach is 15 minute drive from Trogir Old Town or around 20 minutes by bus numbers 45 or 50 from Trogir bus station. There's also a taxi boat in high season which runs every 15 minutes between the Hotel Medena and Trogir.

Why Should You Visit Medena Beach?

Medena is a great beach near Trogir if you're looking for something a bit more lively. It's one of our go-to beaches for active days out since it's right next to the large Hotel Medena resort which offers something for everyone. Medena Beach offers water skiing, parasailing, jet skis, kayaks, and paddleboards as well as beach volleyball, tennis, mini golf, 2 football pitches and basketball in the hotel complex.

Families playing in the water at Medena Beach near Trogir.

As well as Medena Beach you can also take a stroll or bike ride further along the Riviera and check out the smaller Seget Vranjica Beach, Vranjica Beach, and Bucevica Beach.

Good to Know

  • Bring water shoes or flip flops for the pebbly shoreline.

  • You might also want to pack some snacks and drinks to avoid high prices at nearby restaurants and bars.

  • The nearby village of Seget Donji can be a great place to base yourself especially if you're travelling with younger kids. It's quieter than Trogir and Split and you've got easy access to Medena beach. Our favourite options include Apartments G literally right on the beach and the chic Apartments Marer where you get to choose between swimming in the sea or in the private pool! There are also several large hotels like Hotel Medena.

18. Seget Vranjica Beach

Where is Seget Vranjica Beach?

Seget Vranjica is a small seaside village located around 6km west of Trogir. It's just a 10-minute drive from Trogir or around 30 minutes on the number 48,49 or 50 bus from Trogir bus station. You can also take the same taxi boat that runs to the Hotel Medena from Trogir which continues on to the Amadria Park Camping in Seget Vranjica.

Why Should You Visit Seget Vranjica Beach?

The beaches at Seget Vranjica beach are a local's secret especially in the shoulder seasons. Since it's a little further away from Trogir, it's a bit quieter than more popular spots like Medena.

The main beach here is linked to the Amadria Park Camping which offers various accommodation options as well as a large pool, tennis courts, bike rental and an inflatable aquapark. There's also a couple more smaller beaches in the bay of Seget Vranjica, including Vranjica Beach and another small beach next to the popular Morska Sirena beach bar.

Good to Know

  • Parking close to the beaches can be tricky in the summer. Paid parking is available in Seget Vranjica village.

  • There are plenty of facilities available in Seget Vranjica itself. Two local restaurants we recommend are Konoba Kamenica and Restaurant Samac which are right next to each other on the waterfront. They both serve traditional dishes like grilled meats and fish.

19. Marina Beaches

Where is Marina?

Marina is charming little seaside town tucked away in a long bay around 12km west of Trogir. It's around a 20-minute drive from Trogir Old Town or around 30 minutes on the number 49 and 50 buses from Trogir bus station.

Why Should You Visit Marina's Beaches?

Marina makes for a nice half-day or day trip from Trogir. It's known for its striking Venetian tower built at the end of the 15th century and the marina which is well-sheltered from Dalmatia's strong winter storms.

There's a couple of nice beaches in the town itself, including the small Prališće Beach and Tunjara Beach on the south side of the bay. Tunjara is very family-friendly and has an inflatable aquapark, while Prališće is more of a simple town beach. There is also a nice beach in the village of Poljica just before you get to Marina.

Good to Know

  • Bring water shoes or flip flops since the beaches here are mostly pebble and may be rocky.

  • If you're feeling peckish after the beach, we love Restoran Konoba Kod Duje which offers traditional Dalmatian food at decent prices.

20. Divulje Beach

Where is Divulje Beach?

Divulje is really handy if you're headed to Split Airport at the end of your vacation and you want one last beach trip. It's just a 10-minute walk away from the airport and a 10-minute drive from Trogir Old Town. Or you can take the number 37 bus from Trogir Bus Station and jump out at the airport bus stop (ZRAČNA LUKA 2). It's just an 8 minute walk down to the beach club from there.

Why Should You Visit Divulje Beach?

Divulje Beach is one of the top beaches near Trogir for adrenaline junkies since it's home to wakeboarding centre Cable Park Split. It's the only cable park in Dalmatia and offers a 500m waterski and wakeboard lift with 5 jumps that's suitable for both beginners and more advanced riders. Instructors are on hand to teach you the basics and use of the wake park is 25 euros per hour.

The beach itself is also a pleasant place to hang out for a few hours. Sandy beaches are rare in this part of Croatia, so Divulje's mix of soft sand and fine pebbles are a big draw for beachgoers.

Good to Know

  • The wakeboard centre is also home to De Madera Beach Club. Here you can stretch out in one of the nets and listen to the sound of the waves or grab a drink and watch the wakeboarding action. The bar offers a wide range of cocktails and alcoholic drinks as well as serving light food like pizzas during high season.

  • Umbrellas and sun loungers are available to rent for the day.

  • Free parking is available next to the beach, but it does get busy during the summer.

  • Since Divulje is so close to the airport the planes passing overhead can be pretty noisy.

More Things to Do in Trogir

Ask any local and they'll tell you the best place to be in Dalmatia is in or on the water! If you have time, we really recommend getting out to one of the islands near Trogir. You can hop on a ferry or taxi boat from Trogir and head to unspoilt Drvenik Veli and Drvenik Mali (Big and Small Drveniks). These two small islands are home to just a few hundred people and they're packed with secluded coves you can only reach by boat or on foot.

Or alternatively you can see a lot more by taking a three or five-island day trip. These tours take you to some truly stunning places including the Blue Cave, which literally glows blue on a sunny day, and the gorgeous little fishing town of Komiža on Vis island. Another fun option while you're on the islands is to go off-road quad biking on Ciovo island! Below are some of the trips that we have personally experienced and we recommend.
